Being a kid, I thought talking to the crew members on a cruise could be fun, but also a little weird sometimes. One of my favorite memories was from my very first cruise. The waiter in the main dining room was super nice. He always called me "princess" when he took my order, and that always made me smile and feel special. I had no idea what to do, so I just smiled and said my order. The next day at breakfast, I saw him handing out pancakes at the buffet, and I got a little scared. I didn’t know what to say or how to act, because I was just a kid and felt unsure. It was kind of fun but also a little nerve-wracking at the same time!
I think some kids might feel shy around the crew because they don't always know what to say or how to act. I remember one cruise where I got really shy around a crew member who had an accent. I couldn’t understand her very well when she talked to me, and I was so nervous to say anything back, because I didn’t want to mess up or say the wrong thing. Being a kid in that kind of situation was scary, especially if you're as shy as I was!
Many kids don't always feel comfortable around crew members, especially if the crew member is treating them like little kids. To be honest, some crew members don't know how to act around kids! Just remember, the crew members are just trying to make you feel happy and welcomed on the cruise.
When you travel a lot as a kid, you start to feel a little more understanding and knowing what to say and do around those awkward situations with the crew. Having this understanding can really boost your confidence to go out and actually feel like you're not hiding from the crew. Being a kid who travels a lot, I used to be shy and afraid of the crew because of not knowing what to say or do, but after some time, I've started to come out of my shell and start not being afraid.
Overall, I think that most kids that go on a cruise are afraid of the crew members because they don't know how to interact or talk around them. But they just have to get used to the feeling and they will pop right out of their shell and start to be a little more talkative. When you come out of your shell, you will realize how much more you can enjoy your stay on the cruise you’re sailing on.
